The day is finally here and after multiple months of hard work by the front office and coaching staff, the Mexican NBA G-League team Capitanes CDMX is ready to begin the 2021 / 22 season.

For the first time ever, Mexico will have a team competing in a major USA sports league, and following a successful preseason, Capitanes will look to start this new era with the right foot.

After a year's delay in which they were unable to make their debut due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Capitanes will seek to raise not only the name of Mexico, but of all of Latin America by becoming the first Latin team to join the NBA.

In their only preseason game, the Mexican side defeated the Santa Cruz Warriors 107-96.

Season opener

Head Coach Ramón Días and his squad have traveled to Memphis to face the Grizzlies affiliate, Hustle in the G-League season opener.

The game will tip-off at 7pm and will be played at the Landers Center in Southaven, Tennessee.

Prior to the game, Capitanes CDMX officially announced their 2021 team roster, which includes multiple players with NBA experience including Alfonzo Mckinnie, Matt Mooney and Tyler Davis.

It should be noted that Capitanes CDMX is expected to play all of their games away from home in the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Hustle, which also is a recent affiliate team that made their debut in the 2017-18 campaign, received Santi Aldama from the Grizzlies earlier this season, and it is expected to play a big role in the way Memphis runs their offense against Capitanes.
