The Mexico City Capitanes have spoiled the Birmingham Squadron's home opener party in the 2021 NBA G-League season.

After playing their first six games in the road, the Squadron was ready to play for the first time ever in front of their fans in Alabama.

Unluckily for them things didn't go as planned and Capitanes CDMX would end up defeating Birmingham at the Legacy Arena by 123-114.

Factor Mckinnie

Team effort was the reason why the away side was able to stay on top. Led by Alfonzo Mckinnie's 30 points, the Mexican organization had a total of seven guys in double digits.

The former NBA forward shot an impressive 11/20 from the field along with 11 rebounds and a +/- 18.

Forward Garly Sojo played a big role in the team's win at Alabama as well. Not only did the Venezuela native scored 15 points, but by bringing a lot of energy from the bench he also helped his team escape with the win.

Squadron

On the other hand, Birmingham's G Jared Harper led all game scorers with 35 points, but a couple of crucial turnovers down the stretch would secure the win for Capitanes.

The Squadron's G Joe Young also had a remarkable game recording 19 points in 36 minutes of play.
