Real Madrid beat Inter Milan in the final game of the UEFA Champions League game at the Santiago Bernabeau in the Spanish capital.

  • Kroos gives Madrid the lead

The first 15 minutes of the game it was the visitors who were dominating in possession getting good chances to score but shots were being blocked or not on target.

Two minutes later the home side struck first as Toni Kroos with the first shot on target for either side managed to beat Samir Handanovic to give Real Madrid the 1-0 lead.

Inter kept pushing and again had some dangerous chances but again no shots on target and Madrid pushed back and Rodrygo came close to doubling the lead but his shot went off the post and stayed out.

The first half finished with Real Madrid leading 1-0 and looking to win the group.

  • Asensio seals Madrid win

The second half got chippy between the two clubs and in the 64th minute it got heated as Eder Militao and Nico Barella got into an altercation and upon further review, Barella was shown a straight red card.

Inter was down to 10 men but kept searching for the game-tying goal but Thibaut Courtois was doing a good job keeping his clean sheet alive and letting Inter back into the game.

Marco Asensio came on as a substitution in the 72nd minute and seven minutes later doubled Madrid's lead with a great lob shot that went off the crossbar and into the back of the net.

That goal was enough for Real Madrid to win the game and win the group in the process.
