The second round of the men's singles at the Olympics wrapped up as third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, eighth seed Diego Schwartzman, 12th seed Karen Khachanov and 14th seed Ugo Humbert all advanced.

Mixed results for seeds as second round concludes

Seventh seed Hubert Hurkacz and 11th seed Aslan Karatsev were upset victims while Kei Nishikori and Ilya Ivashka also booked their spots in the third round.

Tsitsipas avenged a first-round loss to Frances Tiafoe from Wimbledon as the Greek claimed a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Tsitsipas won the first three games, hit nine aces and won in 77 minutes.

Schwartzman ousted Tomas Machac 6-4, 7-5 and will next meet Khachanov after the Russian Olympic Committee representative beat James Duckworth 7-5, 6-1.

A surprise third-round matchup was set after Liam Broady knocked out Hurkacz 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 and Jeremy Chardy edged out Karatsev 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.

Humbert overcame Miomir Kecmanovic 4-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5 and will next face Tsitsipas. Nishikori bounced Marcos Giron 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-1 and Ivashka got by Mikhail Kukushkin 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-3.

Doubles results

In second-round action, Andy Murray and Joe Salisbury advanced past Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz 6-2, 7-6 (2), Austin Krajicek and Tennys Sandgren got by Lukas Klein and Filip Polasek 6-7 (2), 6-2, [10-5].

Marin Cilic and Ivan Dodig beat Rajeev Ram and Tiafoe 6-3, 7-5, Jan-Lennard Struff and Alexander Zverev knocked out Gael Monfils and Chardy 6-4, 7-5.
