Tottenham Hotspur face Atletico Madrid on Friday in their second game of the International Champions Cup in Melbourne looking to bounce back after a narrow loss to Italian champions Juventus on Tuesday.

Tough test for Pochettino's men

All these games against the bigger sides will gave Mauricio Pochettino a preview of how hard it will be when it comes to the Champions League next season and to get a win against Diego Simeone's side would be fantastic for the full team.

Pochettino's men showed that they were up for the fight in the second half of their game against the Old Lady and they will look to start where they left off in that game.

This game against Atletico is key for Spurs with only one more pre-season game to come against Inter Milan on August 5. Therefore Pochettino will be eager for his side to to register their first win in this game.

Atletico, on the other hand, open up their International Champions Cup campaign and they will be looking to show everyone that they are ready to go ahead of next season once again as they try to challenge on all fronts.

Simeone's men have only played the one pre-season game so far against Numancia when they won 2-0 but now is the time where they will be looking to step it up a gear against Spurs.

Pochettino has received some good news ahead of the game as Christian Eriksen, who missed the game with Juventus due to illness, has recovered and is ready to play some part in the game.

Pochettino is likely to trust his younger players once again with young forward Marcus Edwards making an impression when he came on in the second half of the game on Tuesday.

The game against Juventus was turned on it's head for Spurs when Erik Lamela came on for the second half of the game as the winger scored a goal plus looked very good throughout the game so he could start against Atletico after impressing.

Simeone, on the other hand, almost has a full squad to pick from apart from Antoine Griezmann, who is still on holiday due to his Euro 2016 efforts with France and Koke is also unavailable for the game due to being injured.

Players such as Jan Oblak, Fernando Torres, Diego Godin and Gabi have all travelled to Australia as they look to gain crucial moments on the pitch ahead of the new season.
