Southampton has announced that they will be releasing nine players once the current season comes to a conclusion.

The South Coast side will be looking to reshape their squad having been linked with a permanent move for Kyle Walker-Peters and Mohammed Salisu.

Ralph Hasenhuttl's side has handed their list of those set depart on a free transfer to the Premier League.

Old-guard departing

Most notably of these is Cedric Soares and Maya Yoshida who have both already had respective moves to Arsenal and Sampdoria confirmed.

Cedric made 138 appearances for the Saints having been signed to replace Nathaniel Clyne in 2015.

While Yoshida was certainly a fans favourite at the club having risen through the divisions with Southampton after signing from VVV Venlo all the way back in 2012 and made 194 appearances in a Saints shirt.

Youth exodus

Making up the remaining seven to be released are players from the academy to make room for the progression of other youth talents.

Marcus Barnes, Alexander Cull, Harlem Hale, Simon Kozak, Christian Norton, Aaron O’Driscoll, and Jack Rose are all due to depart before next season.

Barnes was perhaps the closest to making a first-team appearance and was on-loan with Eastleigh in the National League during this campaign.

Rose signed from West Bromwich Albion and looked at one stage like he could make a good back-up goalkeeper, but is now set to leave without making one appearance and was farmed out on-loan to Wallsall this season.
