Despite a much better second half, which included a great performance by Gareth Bale, Tottenham Hotspur failed to pick-up a win in the London Derby and lost 2-1 against West Ham United

Spurs, who have kept only two clean sheets in their last 13 Premier League fixtures, have dropped points in 10 out of their last 13 league games.

Tottenham, who have suffered five defeats in the last six league games, will remain in ninth place with 36 points while West Ham is fourth with 45 points.

Michail Antonio and Jesse Lingard gave the 'Hammers the advantage with goals at the beginning of the first and second half, respectively.

Lucas Moura got the only goal of the afternoon for Tottenham coming from a corner, but despite the momentum shifting to Spurs, West Ham still managed to get the three points.

Story of the game

After an exciting first match of the season, which included a great 3-3 tie between the two sides, there was no doubt West Ham and Tottenham were going to leave it all out on the pitch.

The Portuguese manager decided to start Sergio Reguilon for the first time since mid-January and Japhet Tanganga, who was making just his second start in the Premier League this season.

Things didn't work out for the 'Lilywhites', as they seem to be waving goodbye to their chances of finishing top four this season.

Gareth Bale came in the second half for Spurs and changed the game.

Bale, who has been highly criticized by fans for his most recent performances, created multiple plays and was even one of the two Tottenham players (Heung-Min Son) hitting the crossbar.

This ended up being a very special day for David Moyes since the Scottish manager recorded his first win in 16 career clashes with Jose Mourinho.

Key Takeaways

The clock's ticking on Jose Mourinho

Patience seems to be running out on Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy.

Jose Mourinho now has the lowest league win percentage (46%) of any Tottenham Hotspur manager since Juande Ramos in the 2007-08 season.

Tottenham Hotspur will have to shift their focus to the cup competitions this season if they want to have a chance of playing in the Champions League next year.

Spurs will play the Carabao Cup Final against Manchester City in April, while they're practically in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League

West Ham United are for real

Everyone thought that at some point in the middle of the season West Ham united were gonna fall apart and eventually start dropping points.

That has not been the case at all this season, and led by Declan Rice, the 'Hammers' are close to qualifying for the Champions League next campaign.

Great improvement by the entire squad as well as by the manager, considering West Ham United was close to the Championship relegation in 2020.
