Gary Rowett opted to make Mason Bennett's loan deal permanent in the summer after arrived from Derby County.

  • Loan to Millwall

The former Derby winger arrived at The Den in January 2020. He would go on to make nine appearances for the South Londoners and would score two goals in an injury hit loan spell.

Mason Bennett scored his first goal for Millwall in a 1-1 draw with Swansea City back in July. He would follow this up with the winner when the Lions faced Blackburn Rovers in a game that finished 1-0 to Millwall.

  • Permanent transfer to Millwall

Bennett signed for Millwall on a permanent deal in August. Since then he has scored four goals and contributed two assists. The first half of the season didn't go as well as he would've liked as he had to settle for a place off the bench.

However in the last six games, he has started to find form, and has scored three goals in six games, including the winner against Reading and Preston North End.

  • Gary Rowett wants more

Millwall boss Gary Rowett believes Mason Bennett is capable of more and  speaking to the South London Press, Rowett said:

"With Mason and his ability, for me. He should be scoring those types of goals he has in recent games. He is capable of that. The challenge has always been the same - when you see Mason at the top end, physically he is an absolute handful wherever he plays.

"There aren't too many of our players who have scored three goals from open play this season. He needs to start pushing on to double figures in a season and that's a challenge i've spoken to him about"

After scoring the winner against Preston on Tuesday, Mason Bennett is starting to show what he is really about, and if he can keep this form up, he could help Millwall keep climbing the table.
