Rotherham United will be looking to end a run of five straight defeats as they bid for Championship survival when they take on Blackburn Rovers at the AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Paul Warne's Millers have only scored one goal in their last five games and lost their past two games by a 1-0 margin and look set to go straight back to League One next season, unless they pick up in their remaining games.

Tony Mowbray's Rovers side head to South Yorkshire full of confidence after thrashing Huddersfield Town 5-2 last time out, however, unlike the Millers they have nothing to play for as they are safe from relegation and are unable to get into the play-offs at the end of the campaign.

  • Team News

Matt Crooks will be unavailable for the hosts as he serves the final game of a three-match suspension following his controversial red card against Middlesbrough.

Millers boss, Paul Warne, confirmed that goalkeeper, Viktor Johansson, will likely miss the visit of Blackburn in line with concussion protocols.

But trio Daniel BarlaserMatthew Olosunde and Freddie Ladapo are all in contention for recalls.

Rovers boss, Tony Mowbray, could make one change to his side that thrashed Huddersfield last time out, with defender Barry Douglas in line to return to the left-back position.

Fellow Rovers defender Ryan Nyambe returned to action during the win over Huddersfield so only Daniel AyalaScott WhartonBradley Dack and Joe Rankin-Costello are the only absentees for Mowbray's side.

  • Ones to watch

Michael Smith

29-year-old Michael Smith is the pick of the Millers players, despite not scoring in his last five games for Warne's side he'll be wanting to had to his 10 Championship goals this season.

The Rotherham United striker last scored in the 3-1 win over QPR in the run of six games in the last few weeks due to some postponements earlier in the season because of COVID-19 in the Millers camp.

Adam Armstrong

24-year old Adam Armstrong is the pick of Rovers players with five goals in his last five games, including an hat-trick in the 5-2 demolition of Huddersfield Town last time out.

The hat-trick in the game against Carlos Corberan's side gave the forward 25 goals for the campaign and he'll be looking to add to his tally on Saturday afternoon.

  • Previous Meetings

The Millers lost 2-1 against Rovers when they played against each other at Ewood Park earlier in the season.

Smith put Warne's side 1-0 up on 61 minutes before Harvey Elliott levelled the scores with 10 minutes to go.

Armstrong secured the victory in the eighth minute of stoppage time at the end of the second half.

The last time they faced each other at the AESSEAL New York Stadium, it was a game which was won by Rotherham 3-2 thanks to a brace from current West Bromwich Albion defender Semi Ajayi and a goal from current Portsmouth winger Ryan Williams.

Amari Bell and Charlie Mulgrew were on target for Rovers on that occasion.
