  • Story of the match

The games first chance fell to the hosts after Kiernan Dewbury-Hall received a pass from the right but his effort didn't trouble Jamal Blackman who saved with ease.

The Millers' first chance came from a set-piece, they won a free-kick around 30-yards out, where midfielder Lewis Wing, on loan from Middlesbrough, forced Simon Sluga into making a smart stop with a low driven effort.

Luton went close again when Kal Naismith's cross-come-shot from the left was cleared by Wes Harding as the visitors managed to hold firm.

The hosts continued to pile on the pressure as a corner found Dewsbury-Hall who fired the ball across the face of goal but no-one in a Luton shirt could reach it.

Rotherham then went close when Wing found Ben Wiles in space, his effort looked as if it was heading for the bottom corner, defender Sonny Bradley managed to block his effort for a corner, which the hosts managed to clear.

Luton continued to put the pressure on the visitors as Elijah Adebayo went so close to opening the scoring, as James Bree lifted the ball over the top for Adebayo, whose half-volley came back  off the woodwork.

Rotherham thought they had scored when Ryan Giles delivered a good cross from the left, which Michael Smith managed to get an head onto the cross but it only went wide of the right-hand upright.

At the other end, Luton went close again, Adebayo beat Harding on the left, his cross almost found Dan Potts or James Collins but neither got a connection onto the delivery.

Matt Crooks, back in the side after suspension, collected the ball on the right, and fired an effort towards goal which forced Sluga into a routine stop.

The hosts went close again, a corner from the right almost caught out the Millers, however, Blackman managed to claw the ball onto the post before it was cleared.

At the other end, Richard Wood found Dan Barlaser whose goal-bound effort was blocked, minutes later, Crooks went close when he flicked on Smith's knock-on over Sluga, hit is the inside of the posts but Sluga managed to hold on.

It was the hosts who had the first chance of the second half when James Collins weaved his way into the penalty area and a combination of Michael Ihiekwe and Blackman blocked his effort.

Dewsbury-Hall was involved in both penalty areas, first his effort was blocked by Ihiekwe  brilliantly before he managed to get back to stop Smith from firing an effort on goal.

Harry Cornick then tried to get onto a through ball, however, Blackman was quickly off his line to clear the danger.

The visitors’ first chance of the second half came when Matthew Olosunde tried to find Crooks but his cross was over-hit.

Luton's next chance saw Adebayo's curling effort from the edge of the area, easily saved by Blackman after Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu was stopped in his tracks by Olosunde.

Rotherham almost took the lead, substitute Chiedozie Ogbene did well as he drove into the penalty area only for Bradley to block his effort.

The Millers went close again soon after, Giles delivered a great cross to the back post, Crooks could only head just wide of the target.

Luton went close again when Dewsbury-Hall's direct run was halted before the ball broke kindly for Ruddock-Mpanzu blazed over the bar.

Naismith then fired over after good work by Dewsbury-Hall, before Wing forces Sluga into another smart stop from a free-kick.

Adebayo then fired wide after Bree played him in, at the other end, Giles whipped in a great cross looking for Freddie Ladapo, who had just gone an inch offside.
