Tottenham Hotspur are still finding ways to remain competitive in the Premier League but still develop their young players at the same time.

Just a few days after striker Troy Parrott was sent on loan to MK Dons, Spurs have confirmed that Kion Etete has joined League Two side Northampton Town on loan for the 2021/22 season.

The 19-year-old, who arrived to Hotspur Way in 2019 from Notts County, has also signed a new contract with the Club until 2023.

First team experience

This experience will be nothing new for him, considering he made six first team appearances, including four in League Two during his time at Notts County.

The Derby native has made a name for himself in the Premier League 2, as he recorded nine goals in 21 appearances for the Spurs Under-23s.

Reactions

“I’m really looking forward to getting to know the group and I can’t wait to get started,” he said following the Club's announcement on social media. “My time at Notts County gave me a lot of experience at a young age and then the move to Spurs just elevated it.

This move is very important for me to get that experience of first team football. To improve as a player you need that game time and hopefully I can get that here.

This is a great club and I see this move as a great opportunity for me to play games and score some goals to help the club achieve what they want to do.”

Etete is an all-around striker, and although he's 1.98 m, he can't just play as target forward, but also as someone who gets in behind the opposing defenders.

This will be a great opportunity for Etete to compete in first team football and see if he can really transition those good performances from the youth level to the big stage.
