Jonas Eidevall is on honeymoon with Arsenal after six victories and 21 goals in six matches. He had important clashes for the initial stages of Champions League and FA WSL, achieving their triumphs, including against Chelsea, current champions of the league.

On the other hand, Gareth Taylor has some problems. In addition to having some absences for the upcoming matches, Manchester City were eliminated by Real Madrid in the last preliminary stage at Champions League and against Tottenham last gameweek for the league.

The three points are very important for both teams in their ambition for the league title. Arsenal have lost their last three FA WSL matches against Manchester City by 2-1 in each one.

The match will kick off at 6:45 p.m. (UK time) at Meadow Park.

Team News

Manchester City are seventh in the FA WSL table with one win and one defeat and Gareth Taylor wants to reverse this situation:

“It’s a tough but good game for us to have. Against Arsenal last season, we were successful in terms of result and the way we performed. (...) A draw wouldn't be a disaster but we go out to try and win if we can.”

Some players are still out this weekend because of injuries: Steph Houghton (Achilles), Hayley Raso (shoulder), Esme Morgan (lower leg fracture), Keira Walsh (calf), Karen Bardsley (hamstring), Lucy Bronze (knee), Ellie Roebuck (calf) and Chloe Kelly (ACL). Caroline Weir is set to return tonight.

Arsenal are in second place in the table after winning against Chelsea and Reading. The Gunners have 100% hit this season with Jonas Eidevall and want to get to the lead.

Their absences are Jordan Nobbs (ankle injury), Viki Schnaderbeck (knee injury), Malin Gut (ACL) and Boye Sorensen (knee injury).

When asked about Tobin Heath and other returning players, Eidevall said that “maybe they are not all available to start but they should be available.”

Predicted Line Ups

Arsenal (4-3-3): Zinsberger; Maritz, Williamson, Beattie, Catley; Maanum, Walti, Little; McCabe, Mead, Miedema.

Manchester City (4-3-3): Benameur; Stanway, Mace, Kennedy, Stokes; Weir, Coombs, Losada. Beckie, Hemp, White.

Ones to Watch

Vivianne Miedema has already scored eight times this season and is the main engine of the Gunners for the victories. The striker counts on Beth Mead’s return to good shape, Tobin Heath’s arrival and Katie McCabe’s bet to take the lead.

On the other hand, Lauren Hemp and Ellen White are a powerful duo. They were responsible for 16 goals in the league. White has already scored seven goals in 11 appearances in the WSL against Arsenal and Hemp scored two goals in three starts against the Gunners.

Previous Meetings

In February, Manchester City beat Arsenal 2-1. Ellen White opened the scoresheet at 25 minutes, Caitlyn Foord hit back with a swift counter to draw the match and Lauren Hemp was there to ensure the 3 points for the Citizens.

In December, the same scoresheet. Vivianne Miedema started the match with a goal and Samantha Mewis equalized it at 29 minutes. In the end, Caroline Weir hit the target to guarantee City’s victory.
