After having the best individual season of his career with Tottenham Hotspur, the England Captain Harry Kane has been shortlisted for the 2021 men's Ballon d'Or award.

Kane, who was previously nominated for the award in 2017 and 2018, is one of 30 names competing for the trophy which recognises the best player in the world.

Stats

Although this season he has not started off with the right foot, having yet to score a goal in the Premier League, the Spurs striker had a phenomenal 2020 / 21 campaign.

Not only did the 28 year-old secure his third Premier League Golden Boot (23), but also he also claimed the most assists (14) in the top flight of English football. He became just the second player in league's history to finish the season as the Premier League's leading goal scorer and assists leader.

Kane also teamed up with Heung-Min Son for a record 14 goal combinations in a single Premier League season.

Despite not winning a single title, Kane made his case for the Ballon d'Or Award, establishing himself as one of the two best centre-forwards in the world.

It should be noted the 'HurriKane' had an outstanding Euro Cup 2020 with England, finishing as the tournament's Golden Boot runner up, only trailing Cristiano Ronaldo (5) and Patrick Schick (5).

Kane scored four goals and received 3 Man Of The Match Awards throughout the entire competition, but still wasn't enough to lead England to the title in home soil. He was also involved in the sequence of play for all but one of England’s goals from open play at Euro 2020.

Award

This will be the first time the award is given since 2019, since it was not given out in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s winner will be announced on 29 November at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
