Manchester United host Atalanta at Old Trafford on Wednesday night in Group F of the competition, both teams looking for a win which would a major step to the last 16 of the competition.

The Red Devils have been out of the UEFA Champions League for a number of years often playing their football in the UEFA Europa League, nevertheless this season they have a shot at the biggest prize in European football. Having started the competition in perfect fashion beating Villarreal 2-1 at home in remarkable fashion, Cristiano Ronaldo netting the winning goal in stoppage time, since the Red Devils haven't had it easy losing on the road to Young Boys that in stoppage time too to sink the feeling of United fans worldwide. 

Coming back to the Champions League would never be straight forward after losing the Europa League final against now fellow Champions League outfit Villarreal, United will be looking for a clean sheet alongside a convincing performance to steady the ship in an important game for both sides as matchday three approaches.

Manchester United will be without Raphael Varane who has a groin injury he picked up during the UEFA Nations League final against SpainAmad Diallo and Anthony Martial are also out of contention through injury, however Harry Maguire made a quicker return to action than expected and whilst he struggled against his old side in Leicester City, he will likely remain in the backline on Wednesday. 

Fred and Edinson Cavani returned late from international duty and missed Saturday's game but will hope to feature in this one. Aaron Wan-Bisakka's suspension following his red card against Young Boys was reduced to a single game, so the right back is available for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and will likely return in place on Diogo Dalot.
