Just a few months after his season-long loan with Tottenham Hotspur ended and Gareth Bale returned to Real Madrid, it looks like the Wales international could be on his way back to North London.

According to journalist Eduardo Inda when speaking to El Chiringuito, Spurs are trying to sign the 32 year-old during the January transfer window.

Conte wants Bale

Inda added that Manager Antonio Conte requested Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy to bring Bale back.

Eduardo Inda is known for being one of the most popular journalists in Spain, breaking news not only related to sports but also politics.

The 52 year-old journalist stated that Antonio Conte has rejected the chance to sign Real Madrid's winger Eden Hazard in favour of Bale.

Numbers

The winger, whose contract with Madrid is set to expire at the end of the season, has played a total of 193 minutes of football and scored once this season under Carlo Ancelotti.

'El Ciclón' started the first three league games of the campaign and but has been ruled out with a knee injury ever since.

During the 2020 / 21 campaign Bale had a good return to Spurs, and although Jose Mourinho opted for not making him a consistent starter, he still scored 11 Premier League goals.

Despite only playing 20 league games, Bale scored the same number of goals as Sadió Mane, Marcus Rashford and Wilfred Zaha, and more goals than Michael Antonio, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling and Roberto Firmino.

He also recorded five goals across all the cup competitions, including Europa League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
