Sheffield Wednesday were dumped out of the FA Cup in a first-round replay where the Owls were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Plymouth Argyle.

It was a poor display from Darren Moore's side, who are struggling with several injuries, forcing the Wednesday boss to put square pegs in round holes with forward Callum Paterson dropping into the back three.

The performance, though, boiled down to three errors which led to Argyle's goals on the evening.

Here is how we rated Wednesday on Tuesday night at Home Park...

Sheffield Wednesday Starting XI (3-5-2)

Joe Wildsmith - 5

Was let down by his side for the first two goals, but it was his misjudgement that gifted the third goal of the game to Argyle.

Rarely had anything to do apart from making two good saves to deny Conor Grant and Kieran Agard

Callum Paterson - 5

Wednesday's utility man has already played as a forward and a right-wing back this season, but he filled in as a right-sided centre-half for the first time.

Paterson put in an okay display as he attempt to slow things down as Plymouth raced forward at pace by winning his aerial battles and being strong in the tackle.

Chey Dunkley - 5

The only recognised centre-half in Wednesday's back three, Dunkley was sloppy in possession but did reasonably well to try and organise a makeshift defence.

Liam Palmer - 5

Was easily beaten by Ryan Hardie for Argyle's second goal, but covered the space left by Jaden Brown's ventures as much as possible.

Dennis Adeniran - 4

Gave away a few early fouls on the right before being replaced by Sylla Sow on 28 minutes due to injury.

Barry Bannan - 4

Was largely marked out of the game by being pushed too deep and lost possession cheaply throughout the game - this led to Plymouth's second by being too neat in a dangerous position.

Lewis Wing - 4

Started brightly until the Pilgrims overloaded the centre where he became  a passenger - he just cannot catch a break at the minute.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru - 4

Another who succumbed to Plymouth's midfield dominance, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru made a few darting runs from deep, but he was largely ineffective.

Jaden Brown - 4

Got forward well and tried to create something from nothing, but his raw nature saw him at fault for the opener, as he ran into trouble before losing the ball on halfway.

Florian Kamberi - 6

Florian Kamberi was arguably the Owls' best player on the evening. The forward had several chances in the first period - including a half-volley that forced Michael Cooper into a good save - and he held the ball up well.

Saido Berahinho - 4

Berahino was played as a forward two alongside Kamberi, and despite holding the ball up on a few occasions, he was largely ineffective for the Owls. He went missing for a large part of the game.

Substitutions

Sylla Sow - 4

Replaced an injured Adeniran on 28 minutes. Injected a spark into the Wednesday side but his forward-thinking style left Wednesday exposed on the right.

Theo Corbeanu - 5

Replaced Berahino on the hour and looked to make things happen, but the Owls looked dejected and failed to connect with his deliveries.

Massimo Luongo - N/A

Replaced Bannan on 75 minutes

Olamide Shodipo - N/A

Replaced Kamberi on 75 minutes
