In just a few appearances this season Bryan Gil has gained the respect of Tottenham Hotspur fans by his tireless drive to defend the shirt.

Over the summer, the 20 year-old Spaniard was acquired by Spurs from Sevilla in exchange for Erik Lamela and €25m plus add-ons.

Six months later, Gil will return to La Liga on loan in order to keep developing as a player.

Football Insider Fabrizio Romano reported:

Under Nuno Espírito Santo and Antonio Conte, Gil recorded a total of 20 appearances and one assist across all competitions this season.

Gil's lone-goal with the Club so far was in the penalty shoot-out against Wolverhampton Wanderers to help Spurs advance into the next round of the Carabao Cup.

The Spanish national was also forced to miss some time earlier this season after suffering a thigh injury and testing positive for coronavirus.

Before Spurs

Prior to joining Tottenham, Gil made more than 50 La Liga appearances while playing for Sevilla, Leganes, and Eibar.

During the 2020 / 21 season, he was 11th in La Liga for total completed crosses into the box and was in the top 25 players for dribbles completed per-90.

Gil also made it to the 20-man final shortlist for the 2021 Golden Boy award and won the silver medal with the Spanish Men's National Team during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Valencia currently sits 10th in La Liga Santander standings with 29 points in 22 games played.

There's no doubt Gil's arrival to Mestalla will bring back some of his confidence as well as help Valencia make a push for European spots next season.
