Tottenham and Villarreal CF have reached an agreement to send the Argentine player, Giovani Lo Celso, to the Yellow Submarine.

The Argentine arrives on loan until the end of the season. He is currently in training with the Argentine National Team and will join the group when the international break ends.

History in Spain

Lo Celso already knows LaLiga Santander after spending time with Real Betis for two seasons prior to joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2019.

During his time at Betis he played a total of 45 games between the UEFA Europa League, LaLiga and Copa del Rey, scoring a total of sixteen goals and six assists.

The 25 year-old earned the respect from the Benito Villamarin crowd with his game and his magic.

Spurs struggles

While playing under four different managers at Tottenham Hotspur, Lo Celso struggled to find consistency and regular minutes.

At the London club he has played a total of 84 games across six different competitions, including Champions League football, recording a total of six goals and six assists.

The midfielder recently played a big part in Argentina's Copa America title win after beating Brazil 0-1 in the Maracana Stadium with a goal from Angel Di Maria.

He will now join former Spurs players Serge Aurier, Juan Foyth and Etienne Capoue at the Estadio de la Ceramica in Villarreal.

Two years later, he returns to LaLiga Santander to join Unai Emery's squad. It will be interesting to see how fast he re-adjusts to the life in Spain and how he complements himself with the talented Villarreal group.
