Sheffield United welcome Middlesbrough and former boss Chris Wilder to Bramall Lane for a rescheduled Championship clash that holds high significance at the top end of the table.

A 95th minute Ryan Yates equaliser cancelled out Billy Sharp's goal last time out for Sheffield United against Nottingham Forest, leaving the Blades just outside the play-offs in seventh, one place below Middlesbrough who currently sit just inside the top six.

For Middlesbrough, their Sheffield-born manager, Chris Wilder, returns to his former club as an opposition manager for the first time since he left the club. The improvement has been clear since Wilder arrived, taking the North Yorkshire club from 15th to sixth in his 17 games in charge.

Teams news

Sheffield United will play this contest with an extensive injury list that includes Rhian Brewster, David McGoldrick, Chris Basham, Jack O'Connell, Jayden Bogle and Enda Stevens. However, United were boosted with the return of Ben Osborn against Nottingham Forest, who came on in the 67th minute and put in a shift that will have pleased Blades fans.

Paul Heckingbottom will also be hoping that his plans for the visit of Middlesbrough are boosted by the return of George Baldock who missed Friday night's draw with Nottingham Forest with a knee injury.

Blades defender Charlie Goode will serve his third and final match ban after a straight red card against Blackburn Rovers.

For Middlesbrough, Martin Payero remains the only short-term injury with Darnell Fisher and Sammy Ameobi set to be out for the remainder of the season.

With Aaron Connolly and Riley McGree both training on Friday but only Connolly getting minutes last time out against Luton Town, Wilder will be hoping that McGree will be fit enough to return for this fixture.

Boro were also boosted by the return of Marc Bola in the FA Cup but is yet to appear in the Championship since returning from injury.
