According to Sky Sport Italia reporter, Gianluca Di Marzio, Russian club, Zenit St. Petersburg have offered £21.5 million for the much coveted Internacional forward, Leandro Damiao.

The Brazilian forward has been the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur during the transfer market, but Zenit have become the frontrunners in recent days. Napoli's new manager, Rafa Benitez also admitted that his club are interested in the forward in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport: "Damiao is very good. Two attackers will arrive: one centre forward and one support striker."

Internacional have remained confident that they can keep hold of Damaio throughout this transfer window. The club's president, Luis Cesar Souto de Moura, has previously stated: "It's silly to sell Leandro Damiao this year, he has the chance to play the World Cup and improve his ability. We are confident and we understand that he can wait another year, play the World Cup, increase his value with the national team and then be transferred and have other opportunities."

Leandro Damiao has plyed his trade at Internacional for four seasons, scoring 82 goals in 147 appearances. He has also been capped 16 times by the Brazilian national team.

Zenit have reportedly offered the Brazilian international £3.8 million per year.
