RasenBallsport Leipzig are through to the next round of the DFB-Pokal following a 3-1 win in extra-time against Erzgebirge Aue - and could face a glamour tie against a one of the top Bundesliga sides.

Aue took the lead early on in the first half after dominating the opening possession - however, the visitors looked to take the foot off the gas following their goal as RB Leipzig looked to get back in to the game. The hosts equalised through Yussef Poulsen, with a goal in stoppage time to take the tie in to extra time. A converted penalty from Dominik Kaiser and a goal from Terrence Boyd then put the game beyond doubt.

Alexander Zorniger made one change to his Leipzig side that won 2-0 against VfL Bochum - In came Lukas Klostermann in place of Marvin Compper. For the visitors, Tomislav Stipic make three changes to his team that drew against SV Sandhausen. Stipe Vucur, Rico Benatelli and Henri Anier started in place of  Filip Lukšík, Patrick Schönfeld and Dorian Diring.

Stipic was forced to make his first subtitution after just six minutes had been played as Anier picked up a knock following a tackle - this did not affect Aue's attacking threat as they took the lead after 19 minutes.

René Klingbiel found space on the right-flank, before crossing the ball in to the path of Frank Löning, only for Leipzig defender Klostermann to get ahead of the striker, and lift the ball over his own keeper from 10-yards.

Despite going a goal down early on - this didn't affect the attacking ability of Daniel Frahn and Poulsen, who both linked up well just moments later. The latter of the two, Poulsen, cut inside from the left-flank and curled the ball towards Martin Männel who was on hand to deny the Dane.

Going a goal down seemed to have spurred the hosts on as Michael Fink was forced in to defensive action to deny Frahn - who looked to have got the better of the Aue defender, who made a great recovering tackle.

Mike Könnecke then had a great chance to double Aue's lead when he was through one-on-one with Fabio Coltorti but the substitute fluffed his lines as he fired wide from inside the penalty area - with no-one around him.

Aue went in to the break a goal up but despite their one of few attacks, the visitors didn't look too clinical going forward.

Leipzig attacked straight from the off following the restart and Männel was called upon a number of times in the opening 15 minutes of the second-half. Rani Khedira had a shot from distance which saw his effort saved before the Aue goalkeeper was called up again moments later, saving from the head of Poulsen.

Out of nowhere, Könnecke nearly doubled the visitors lead after the woodwork saved the German's shot - Coltorti was well and truely beaten.

Boyd replaced Frahn and made an instant impression, linking up well with Poulsen - the latter fired his effort just wide of the post, with the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.

The game really started to open up in the closing stages with Leipzig pushing for the equaliser. Männel was forced in a save to deny Anthony Jung 10 minutes form time, whilst on the counter-attack, Arvydas Novikovas had the whole half to himself and time to pick a corner - however the midfielder went for the lob and scuffed his effort in to the palms of Coltorti.

Back down the other end and Männel could only stand and look as Boyd's header found the crossbar.

Persistence paid off for Leipzig however as Poulsen scored in the dying embers - heading home from a corner to take the game in to extra time.

It took Leipzig just eight minutes to take the lead against Aue who were looking tired after giving away a sloppy penalty. Up stepped Kaiser who fired past Männel who looked distraught after having such a good game.

Boyd then put the game beyond any doubt in the second-half of extra time when he headed home Leipzig's third goal from two-yards out. The result means Leipzig will progress through to the next round and could face earn a glamour tie as the visitors will be disappointed with the result, having failed to take their chances after going one-nil up.
