On Wednesday, VfB Stuttgart confirmed the arrival of Carlos Mané from Sporting CP.

The attacker has joined on a two-year loan deal with an option to purchase also inserted, which was announced by both, that is rumoured to be around €15m.

Mané will add some much needed flair to what has been a flair limp and lifeless Jos Luhukay side so far.

A big move for the club

The 21-year-old has made 87 appearances for the capital club, scoring 14 and assisting a further 17 in that time.

He made his breakthrough back in the 2013-14 season, with two goals and four assists to his name in just 852 minutes.

That improved with more game time in the campaign that followed, as he scored six and made four goals in 29 league appearances. 

Despite the original figures not looking terribly impressive, Mané has averaged a goal or assist ever 125 minutes while with Sporting.

The Portuguese youngster becomes one of many new faces at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, including Simon Terodde, Benjamin Pavard and Haijme Hosogai.

Mané and Schindelmeiser have their say

Both Mané and Jan Schindelmeiser both spoke to the club website once the deal was finally concluded.

"Those responsible at VfB Stuttgart made a very determined effort to sign me," said Mané. "I wanted to come to VfB and I am delighted the transfer has come about."

The player explained, "The club has set itself the goal of returning to the top-flight as quickly as possible and I want to play my part in making that happen."

Sporting director Schindelmeiser also gave his thoughts on the deal, "Carlos Mané is a threat in front of goal and at the same time, a good provider."

He concluded, "With him in the side, we are more difficult to calculate in attack. Our game can particularly benefit from his pace."
